Crimson Desert is a big open-world game that loves to distract you from the main story. If you are new, here are the practical, slightly sarcastic tips you actually need to get rolling and stop dying so often.
Use Food
Early side quests teach you how to cook, for example Renee's Request. Food is not just for flavor text. You can eat meals to heal and gain elemental resistance, and you can bind a quick-heal button for emergencies. As you progress, food becomes essential for tough fights and boss encounters.
Get A Pet
Pets show up around towns and sometimes in the wild. Petting or feeding increases their trust until it hits 100, then you can adopt them. They will not fight, but they will pick up loot for you. That alone makes them worth the effort.
Keep Your Pouches Until You Need Them
Bandits drop pouches that can be exchanged for cash. Tempting, yes. But many merchants accept pouches as cheap gifts to raise trust. Hold onto them until you finish merchant-related tasks so you can get better rewards later.
Increase Merchant Trust
Merchant trust matters. At 100 trust they sell better gear and rarer items. Some will offer a trade agreement so you can buy from your camp instead of running back and forth. They may also sell sighting documents that point to legendary creatures.
Ring Bells
You can climb belltowers and ring bells to reveal entire areas on your map. This uncovers points of interest and makes it easier to spot what you need. Major cities and regions usually have multiple bells to ring.
Open Teleport Points
Every blurred region with a question mark usually hides an Abyss Nexus or a puzzle. Stand on an Abyss Nexus to unlock it as a fast travel point. Solving certain puzzles will also activate teleport points. If you want to get somewhere quickly, unlock those points.
Upgrade Your Build
Upgrade useful armor and weapons at the blacksmith. As you find Abyss gear, you can craft, upgrade, and extract hidden abilities to add to your build. A solid set of upgrades makes many fights easier.
Pay Attention To Your Skill Tree
Leveling skills is important. Use Abyss Artifacts to boost health and stamina if you want to survive more hits and dodge often. After that, invest in melee damage because that is where most of your damage output will come from.
Give Attention To Your Camp
The Greymanes' camp starts small and can grow into a proper hub. Upgrade it and you will unlock merchants, services, and the ability to send comrades to gather food and materials. That helps with cooking and preparation for bigger fights.
Do Your Research
The research feature is easy to miss but useful. Research can unlock recipes for Abyss items and items like Palmar Pills that let you revive after falling. It is worth checking the research tree as you explore.
Increase Your Inventory
Inventory starts small, but completing side quests in Hernand adds three to five slots per quest. Merchants also sell small bags that add slots. Focus on these early and you will stop juggling items as often.
Horse Management
Horses matter for traveling. You can feed, tame, level, and equip them. Early on, aim for a Priden type horse because it has more stamina and utility. Later you can hunt for legendary horses if you want to show off.
Stealing Isn't That Bad
Crime reduces a region's contribution meter, but the game caps contribution gains anyway. Some crimes are practical: you can steal books to learn crafting instead of buying them, or you can rob the bank if you prefer instant cash and fines. Use this option carefully.
You Don't Have To Unlock Double Jump
Kliff learns Force Palm early, and also an Aerial Force Palm that works in mid-air. That aerial version can be used up to three times from the start, letting you reach high places without investing in a separate double jump ability. Use it for exploration and vertical travel.
Sometimes It's Better To Fall From The Abyss
If a quest lands you in an unexplored area with no fast travel point, look for an Abyss platform nearby. These platforms sit above the world and often serve as convenient teleport or drop points near distant objectives.
