FaZe Vegas have finally got themselves back to the top of the podium, and OpTic Texas were the unfortunate team standing in the way when it happened.

The Simp-led roster beat the reigning world champions 4-1 in the grand final of the 2026 Call of Duty League Stage 2 Major at DreamHack Birmingham, taking home the trophy, $150,000, and 100 CDL points. It was FaZe Clan’s first championship since last season’s CDL Major 2, back when the team was still competing under Atlanta. Time moves quickly in esports, but apparently not quite fast enough to stop a title drought.

The win also strengthens FaZe’s push toward a spot at CoD Champs later this year. They entered the bracket as the sixth seed after qualifying and had to work their way through the lower bracket to reach the final. OpTic, meanwhile, came in looking unstoppable and left with their second straight CDL Major final loss after falling to Paris Gentle Mates in Stage 1.

How FaZe closed it out

Before the title match, FaZe knocked out Toronto KOI 3-1 in the lower bracket final to set up a rematch with OpTic. That made for an awkwardly familiar matchup, because OpTic had cruised through the upper bracket with only one map loss, and that came against FaZe in their earlier upper bracket final meeting.

FaZe started the grand final with a strong team performance, led by Drazah. In the opening Hardpoint on Colossus, they pulled away after a tense early stretch around P3 and turned it into a 250-184 win.

OpTic answered in Search and Destroy on Raid. Shotzzy caught fire, finishing with 13 kills, 10 of them non-traded, as OpTic rolled to a comfortable 6-2 win and tied the series.

The third map, Overload on Scar, looked like it might swing OpTic’s way for a moment. Simp and 04 helped FaZe build a 3-0 halftime lead, but Dashy and Huke sparked a comeback that forced overtime. Even then, FaZe held firm. With EMP control in hand, they outplayed OpTic in the extra rounds, and Abuzah delivered two clutch kills to secure the map and restore FaZe’s lead.

From there, 04 and Simp carried the momentum into Hardpoint on Exposure. 04 posted 35 kills and Simp added 31 as FaZe erased an early 41-120 hole and then clung to control of P5 to win 250-207 and move to championship point.

OpTic made one last push in Search and Destroy on Exposure. Mercules and Shotzzy landed key kills to put their team up 5-4 and keep the comeback alive, but FaZe shut the door with two straight round wins to finish the series and claim the Major 2 crown.

MVP honors

04 was named the Major 2 MVP after an excellent tournament and a standout grand final. He finished with a 1.4 K/D, 118 total kills, and 13,070 total damage dealt.
