Fortnite OG Chapter 1 Season 8 release date

Fortnite OG Chapter 1 Season 8 begins on April 1, 2026. As usual, a fresh season will mean a bit of server downtime, with Epic typically taking the game offline for about 2 to 4 hours while the update rolls out.

If your habit is to preload the update and stare at the countdown like it owes you money, that should still be possible before the servers go down.

OG seasons can stretch well past two months, so this one is expected to run until the first week of June 2026.

What Season 8 is bringing back

This season leans hard into Fortnite’s pirate phase, which, to be fair, was one of the more memorable stretches of Chapter 1. Fortnite OG Chapter 1 Season 8 will reintroduce three map locations:

  • The Volcano
  • Lazy Lagoon
  • Sunny Steps

The Volcano was the standout feature of the original Season 8 island, and it remains one of the more striking points of interest Fortnite has ever had. Not bad for a game that has spent years making extremely loud decisions look normal.

Skins, weapons, and gadgets returning

Season 8 is also adding three remix skins based on Blackheart, Hybrid, and Luxe.

A long list of returning gear is on the way as well, including:

  • Shadow Bomb
  • Treasure maps
  • Pirate Cannon
  • Flint-Knock Pistol
  • Infantry Rifle
  • Heavy Assault Rifle
  • Impulse Grenade
  • Poison Dart Traps
  • Boom Bow

Treasure maps and Pirate Cannons should make the island feel properly chaotic again, which seems to be the point. The Shadow Bomb is also back for anyone who enjoys disappearing with suspicious timing.

The Baller returns, but not right away

The most notable comeback may be The Baller, the one-person vehicle last seen in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1. It will not be available when the season launches, though. Epic says it is coming later in the season instead.

A quick look back at Season 8

For players who were not around the first time, Chapter 1 Season 8 was Fortnite’s original pirate-themed season. It also introduced The Volcano, one of the game’s most visually striking locations.

It was even the first season to offer a free battle pass, a gesture from Epic during a rough period for the game. That kind of generosity is probably not making a comeback, especially after the recent V-Bucks price increase.

So whether you are here for nostalgia or just want to see what the pirate season looks like in 2026, Fortnite OG Chapter 1 Season 8 is bringing back a familiar mix of treasure, traps, and very aggressive transportation.
