Another month, another round of trailer speculation
April has arrived, and with it the countdown to GTA 6 has dropped to 232 days until release. It has also been 1,517 days since Rockstar Games confirmed the game was in "active development", which is plenty of time for the internet to turn patience into a hobby.
So yes, some fans are once again convinced that Trailer 3 is right around the corner. This is not a new condition. It is, however, becoming increasingly enthusiastic.
A Reddit post that simply asked, "April just started – any chance of GTA 6 Trailer 3?" set the tone for the month. It is the sort of question that suggests hope, exhaustion, and possibly a few tabs left open in a browser.
Why some people think a trailer is due
The case for imminent news is not exactly airtight. A missing Rockstar YouTube video last November turned out to be nothing. The addition of the GTA+ subscription to the game’s PlayStation Store page before an upcoming Take-Two financial call also did not lead anywhere useful. Still, that has not stopped fans from trying to read meaning into every delay, disappearance, and menu update.
At this point, the logic seems to be that if enough time passes, something must happen. A bold theory, but not a very specific one.
Rockstar said marketing starts in the summer
There is one fairly important detail working against the idea of a trailer arriving in April: Rockstar has already said its "launch marketing" is "set to begin this Summer."
Astronomical summer in the Northern Hemisphere begins on June 21 this year, though in games publishing terms the summer window usually means roughly June through August. In other words, not April, even if the weather briefly tricks UK residents into thinking otherwise.
That has not stopped some fans from insisting there is still room for a trailer before the marketing push officially begins. One theory making the rounds claims that the phrase "launch marketing" does not cover all remaining promotion for the game.
According to that idea, Trailer 3 and preorders could arrive first, while launch marketing would refer to the later stage of the campaign, such as billboards, bus ads, and broader physical advertising. It is certainly a theory. Whether it is a convincing one is another matter entirely.
For now, there is no solid sign of anything imminent
Right now, there does not appear to be any real evidence that GTA 6 news is about to land. But the longer the wait goes on, the more fans are likely to keep inventing reasons to believe otherwise.
That is understandable, if not especially grounded in facts. Rockstar has done little to encourage calm, and the sheer length of the wait has clearly started doing the rest.
For now, the game is still scheduled to launch on November 19. Whether Trailer 3 appears before then, during the summer, or after fans have fully lost their minds remains to be seen.
