NetEase has confirmed that Marvel Rivals is being developed for Nintendo Switch 2. The studio did not drop a release date, but the move means the brawler might finally leave the couch and run on a portable console.

Switch 2 build is official - for now

At GDC, Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo told reporters the team is "working on it" when asked about a Switch 2 version. That matches earlier comments from game director Guangyun Chen, who said last year the team was considering the console but had not received an official dev kit from Nintendo at the time.

Koo did not share more details, such as a launch window. The studio plans to make a formal announcement when they have more to show.

Mobile port not likely any time soon

If you were hoping to play Marvel Rivals on your phone, prepare to be a little disappointed. Koo warned that the game does not translate well to touch controls. According to him, making a mobile version would mean building a very different game because of how much the controls would need to change.

That does not rule out a mobile spin-off in the future, especially with NetEase involved, but it means a straightforward port to Android and iOS is not on the immediate roadmap.

What’s new in Season 7

The game just kicked off Season 7, which brought a new Strategist hero, White Fox, along with quality-of-life updates and new Team-ups. The season roadmap teases additional content coming later, including:

  • New Convergence map
  • Limited-time event centered on Peter Parker
  • Deadpool and Jeff costumes

Marvel Rivals is currently playable on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and Series S.
