Netflix’s April 2026 lineup
Netflix is spending April 2026 doing what it does best: stacking the schedule with returning hits, fresh spinoffs, a handful of ambitious genre plays, and enough library titles to make the app look briefly well stocked.
The month brings back Kitty Song-Covey for another round of school, secrets and senior-year stress in XO, Kitty. It also adds Tommy Wirkola’s shark-and-hurricane disaster thriller Thrash, the second season of Beef, Kevin Hart’s comedy competition Funny AF with Kevin Hart, season 2 of Running Point, the animated Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, Charlize Theron in the wilderness survival thriller Apex, and Man on Fire, a new TV take on A.J. Quinnell’s novel series with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as John Creasy.
If that sounds like a lot, it is. Netflix seems to have concluded that subtlety is for another platform.
The biggest premieres
XO, Kitty returns April 2
Anna Cathcart is back as Kitty Song Covey in the third season of XO, Kitty, which arrives with eight episodes. This time, Kitty is heading into her senior year at KISS in Seoul, the South Korean capital, while juggling the usual cocktail of secrets, scandals and adolescent insecurity. Valentina Garza steps in as showrunner for the new season, and returning cast members include Minyeong Choi, Gia Kim and Sang Heon Lee.
Sharks, storms and bad decisions in Thrash
On April 10, Netflix gets Thrash, a survival thriller that was originally intended for theaters before ending up here instead, which is generally how audiences know to approach these things with caution. Written and directed by Silent Night filmmaker Tommy Wirkola, the film stars Phoebe Dynevor, Whitney Peak and Djimon Hounsou. The story follows a coastal town battered by a Category 5 hurricane, where the storm surge brings in a very unwelcome population of hungry sharks.
Beef season 2 arrives April 16
The second season of Netflix’s multi-Emmy-winning Beef premieres on April 16. Created by Lee Sung Jin and produced by A24, the new season swaps in a fresh cast led by Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny. This time, the conflict centers on a blackmail war that erupts at an upscale country club after two young employees witness a disturbing fight between their boss and his wife. As ever, no one is having a normal day.
Kevin Hart looks for the next comedy star
Funny AF with Kevin Hart lands on April 20. The series is a stand-up competition built to find the next major comic name, with Hart hosting alongside rotating guest judges including Keegan-Michael Key, Tom Segura and Nikki Glaser. The format builds toward live episodes in which the audience helps choose a winner, who then gets a Netflix special. It is, in other words, a talent contest with slightly more confidence and probably fewer confetti cannons.
Running Point season 2 tips off April 23
Kate Hudson returns as Isla Gordon, president of the Los Angeles Waves, when Running Point comes back for its second season on April 23. Executive produced by Mindy Kaling and Ike Barinholtz, the new season adds Uche Agada and Justin Theroux as regulars. With the championship approaching, Isla has to manage chaos in both the locker room and the boardroom while also dealing with a messy love triangle.
More Hawkins, this time animated
Also on April 23, Netflix expands the Stranger Things universe again with Stranger Things: Tales From ’85. The animated series is directed by Phil Allora and showrun by Eric Robles, and it is set during the winter of 1985 in Hawkins. Odessa A’zion is among the voice cast. The story promises new mysteries while connecting the gap between the original series’ second and third seasons, which should be enough to keep the devoted fan base busy for a while.
Charlize Theron faces a killer in Apex
April 24 brings another high-concept genre entry with Apex. Charlize Theron stars alongside Taron Egerton and Eric Bana in the film, which was shot in the Australian wilderness. Theron plays a grieving woman on a solo adventure who becomes the target of a calculating killer played by Egerton, turning the whole thing into a twisted cat-and-mouse chase. Baltasar Kormákur directs from a script by Jeremy Robbins.
Man on Fire closes out the month
The month ends on April 30 with Man on Fire, a new series adaptation of A.J. Quinnell’s novel series. If the Denzel Washington film from 2004 feels recent, that is only because time continues to be rude. In this version, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II plays John Creasy, a former mercenary with PTSD who is pulled back into action on a mission for redemption. Kyle Killen writes and showruns, and Scoot McNairy plays Creasy’s CIA contact.
