A Platinum Trophy That Refused to Budge
A PlayStation player has managed something that, until now, had apparently remained out of reach: the first legitimate Platinum Trophy unlock in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus. For a game that launched 13 years ago on PS Vita, that is a long time for a trophy to sit there collecting dust and bad news.
The player behind the record is a Japanese gamer known as Tqvry, who streamed the successful run on March 28, 2026. According to PSNProfiles, they are now the first and only person to have earned the Platinum in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus.
Why This One Took So Long
The Ninja Gaiden series has never really been interested in making things easy, which is part of the brand at this point. Some players are content just getting to the end credits. Others prefer to treat punishment as a hobby.
That second group is the one this Platinum Trophy was apparently designed to torment. The trophy list includes a challenge tied to the game’s Dynamic Duo trophy, which requires clearing the game on Turbo mode with a co-op partner.
Turbo mode pushes the game to 1.5 times normal speed, which is already a lot for a fast-paced action game. The real catch, though, is the co-op requirement. On the PS Vita version, there is no online multiplayer option, so players have to rely on an NPC partner instead of a human teammate.
That would be annoying enough on its own. Add in the possibility of frame rate drops on Vita hardware and the fact that the NPC can sometimes be more trouble than help, and the reason nobody had finished this for years starts to make a little too much sense.
A 10-Hour Final Stream and a Very Bad Boss Fight for the Bosses
Tqvry’s final stream lasted 10 hours and covered the last mission needed to secure the Platinum Trophy. That mission included a boss battle against three bosses at once, with the NPC support character along for the ride.
The strategy was simple enough, at least in theory: use the NPC as a distraction and focus on one boss at a time. In practice, it still took a full 10-hour stream to get it done. Even then, the run got a little help from an accidental glitch.
During the successful attempt, one of the bosses somehow became stuck in the ground, which greatly reduced the pressure on the player. With one enemy effectively removed from the equation, Tqvry only had to deal with two active bosses instead of three. Not exactly a clean victory, but then again, nobody was asking Ninja Gaiden to play fair.
A New Record, and Probably Not the Last
Tqvry’s achievement may not stand forever. Another player could eventually come along and beat the record, assuming they enjoy suffering in organized trophy form. But for now, Tqvry has the distinction of being the first person to prove it can be done, with video evidence to back it up.
There is also some indication that this is not a one-off miracle. According to their PSNProfiles account, Tqvry has earned 100% completion in 208 other games since the account was created in 2018.
So, yes, they have the credentials. And now they also have a place in PlayStation trophy hunting history for finally dragging Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus over the finish line after 13 years of resistance.
