Russell Dickerson on Keith Urban

Russell Dickerson says Keith Urban is handling life after his divorce from Nicole Kidman the way a veteran hitmaker probably would: by staying focused on music and, if the moment calls for it, carrying on with a professional smile.

Three months after Urban and Kidman finalized their divorce, Dickerson shared a quick update on his friend’s mood at the March 26 iHeartRadio Music Awards.

“He’s always been focused on music, and so I think he’s just kind of doubling down on that, and it’s just beautiful,” Dickerson told Page Six. “I can’t wait to hear what comes out of it.”

Dickerson said the two crossed paths at the Country to Country festival in mid-March, though he did not spend a great deal of time with him. Still, from the time they did share, the country singer said Urban “seemed in good spirits.”

“I’ve toured with all of them,” Dickerson said of country music’s biggest names. “But Keith Urban is my guy.”

Kidman says she is moving forward

Dickerson’s update comes after Kidman, 58, said she was doing “all right” following the end of her 19-year marriage.

“I am, because I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good,” she told Variety on March 11. “What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward. That’s that. Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect.”

Kidman, who is also the mother of Isabella Cruise, 32, and Connor Cruise, 30, with ex-husband Tom Cruise, has said coparenting her daughters remains her priority.

“I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,’” she said, “and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”

The divorce timeline

Kidman filed for divorce in September, one day after E! News reported that she and Urban had been living separately since the beginning of the summer.

Three months later, the divorce was finalized, along with an agreement covering custody of their children.

According to documents obtained by E! at the time:

  • Kidman will spend 306 days a year with daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
  • Urban will have every other weekend with the girls.

The former couple, who share Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, had been married for 19 years.

Nashville remains home

Even with a major personal change now in the rearview, Kidman said one thing is not going anywhere: Nashville.

“We have our life here,” she explained. “I’m part of the city and community for 20 years. It’s my home.”
