The trailer is here
The new official trailer for Supergirl is now online, giving audiences their latest look at the DC Studios film directed by Craig Gillespie and produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran. The movie is scheduled to open in cinemas on June 25, 2026, with Warner Bros. Pictures handling distribution.
DC keeps busy building its next screen universe, and this one is positioned as a major new chapter in that plan.
Cast and creative team
The film stars Milly Alcock in the dual role of Supergirl / Kara Zor-El. She is joined by an international cast that includes Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa. The screenplay is written by Ana Nogueira.
The movie is based on DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Executive producers are Nigel Gostelow, Chantal Nong Vo, and Lars P. Winther.
Behind the camera, the production brings together a strong technical team, including cinematographer Rob Hardy, production designer Neil Lamont, and editor Tatiana S. Riegel. Hollywood does, at times, enjoy making every piece of the machine sound as important as the machine itself.
A story of revenge, justice, and one very long trip through space
The plot follows Kara Zor-El after an unexpected and ruthless enemy strikes too close to home. Forced into an interstellar journey shaped by revenge and justice, she ends up forming an unlikely alliance that pushes her into increasingly dangerous situations.
The result is being pitched as a film that mixes action with a more personal emotional thread, which is usually the part studios mention when they want you to know there is feelings stuff in between the explosions.
With Supergirl, DC Studios is continuing to expand its cinematic universe around one of the most recognizable heroines in comics. The goal, apparently, is to deliver a story that combines spectacle and emotion for a global audience in summer 2026.
