Patch day arrived and the Warzone sandbox got a fresh set of adjustments. Some underused guns received sensible boosts, one once-ubiquitous rifle got pulled back, and Black Ops Royale saw a handful of gameplay changes meant to tidy up the experience.
Weapon updates at a glance
Short version: stop relying only on one rifle and try something new. Here are the main weapon changes from the March 24 patch.
-
EGRT-17
This assault rifle picked up meaningful recoil improvements. Horizontal recoil was reduced and recoil deviation tightened, which makes the gun more consistent at medium and long ranges. Two attachments also got buffs: the EAM Tatter Stock and the Frigate Control Stock now help with recoil control.
-
Swordfish A1
The new marksman rifle had its effective ranges extended. Both minimum and maximum damage ranges increased, ADS speed improved, and the burst fire interval is shorter. In plain terms, it feels faster and more lethal at longer distances.
-
XM325
The LMG received a damage range increase across modes, a small bullet velocity bump, and reduced horizontal recoil plus tighter recoil deviation in Battle Royale and Resurgence. It should be more competitive at range.
-
Dravec 45
The SMG was reworked to better match its intended role. Damage went up, but the fire rate was lowered to keep time-to-kill balanced.
-
Maddox RFB
This long-standing meta assault rifle received a significant nerf. Damage range was reduced across all modes to address how dominant and easy to use it became. Expect players to trial other ARs now.
-
Peacekeeper Mk1
Not a direct weapon nerf, but the Monolithic Suppressor attachment now provides smaller bullet velocity and damage range bonuses in BR and Resurgence. That lowers the Peacekeeper Mk1 effectiveness at distance a bit.
Other gameplay and item changes
Beyond weapons, the patch makes several adjustments to Black Ops Royale and in-match activities to improve flow and balance.
-
Wingsuit controls
Keyboard and mouse players will notice different wingsuit behavior when jumping from ledges. Players now need to give intermittent forward inputs to maintain altitude. Further refinements are expected in the next season.
-
Redeploy Towers
Tweaks make them more useful in the late game, which could create more comeback chances in tight end circles.
-
Loot and supply changes
Armor Satchel spawn chances were nudged up in supply boxes. Expect slightly better opportunities to stock up armor during a match.
-
Activities and event spawns
Strongbox Crack now has more strongboxes spawning at match start. Surprise Shipment has been expanded with more shipments and a higher Safecracker USB drop rate. Surveillance Drones appear more often early, and their Safecracker USB drop rate was increased.
That covers the highlights. The March 24 patch aims to increase weapon variety and clean up a few gameplay pain points, especially in Black Ops Royale. Expect the meta to shift as players test the newly buffed guns and adapt to the Maddox changes.
