Elijah Wood has a very specific case of mistaken identity
Elijah Wood, who became a global star as Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, says he is still regularly mistaken for another major name from the same era: Tobey Maguire.
Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Wood said the confusion comes up with surprising consistency.
"Most recently I think it was actually Tobey Maguire. Which does still happen, and it's always for Spider-Man. It's not for any of Tobey's other work," Wood said. "It's just 'Hey, Spider-Man!' Nope. Nope. Nope. I won't correct people."
So if you are keeping score, the man who played one of fantasy cinema's most recognizable hobbits is apparently still getting waved down as a superhero. Hollywood branding, once again, proving subtlety is not its strong suit.
