How to unlock the VST in Black Ops 7 and Warzone

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 3 is bringing in a fresh batch of weapons, and the VST submachine gun is one of the bigger additions. If the classic MP7 from Black Ops 2 still lives rent-free in your loadout memory, this one should look very familiar. It is a lightweight, full-auto SMG built for fast, close-quarters fights, which is convenient if your strategy involves arriving first, leaving quickly, and asking questions later.

The weapon is geared toward hit-and-run play. It has strong mobility and handling, and it is especially dangerous when hip-firing at point-blank range. The tradeoff is recoil. If you try to force it into mid-range gunfights while aiming down sights, the VST starts to feel a lot less charming.

Best way to unlock the VST

The main unlock path is the Season 3 Battle Pass in Black Ops 7 and Warzone. The VST is available as a free reward, but not right away. You will need to reach the High-Value Target (HVT) reward on Battle Pass Page 6 and spend Battle Pass Tokens to claim it.

That means the usual Battle Pass crawl applies. You have to clear the earlier rewards on that page before the SMG becomes yours, because apparently giving people a new weapon without a little paperwork would be too generous.

If you want to get to it faster, the safest route is to chase XP efficiently instead of just stacking matches and hoping for the best. Daily and weekly challenges are the obvious priority, along with objective-focused play. In Multiplayer, that means capturing points and playing the mode, not just sprinting around collecting dramatic deaths. In Warzone, contracts will help move the needle faster.

Players who own BlackCell get a shortcut here. BlackCell instantly unlocks Page 6, which means you can spend your tokens and grab the base VST much sooner than everyone else still doing the standard grind.

There is also a strong chance the VST will show up in a store bundle as part of a weapon blueprint. If that happens, buying the bundle will unlock the gun immediately. You would still need to level it normally to open up its full attachment set, because the game believes access should come with homework.

VST Prestige Attachment

For players who want more control and a bit more reach, the VST’s Prestige Attachment is the MFS 5.56 MINSAS Conversion. This fire mod trades some of the weapon’s raw speed for better stability and improved damage range, making it easier to handle in mid-range fights. It also lets you use different 5.56 magazines.

That conversion is the obvious choice if you like the VST’s speed but want less recoil getting in the way of actual gunfights.

All VST Prestige Camos

The VST also comes with a set of Prestige Camos in Black Ops 7 and Warzone:

  • Prestige 1: Targeted
  • Prestige 2: Lattice
  • Prestige Max: Ravenous, an animated camo

All Weapon Prestige Camos are universal, so once you unlock them, you can apply them to other weapons as well.
