Crimson Desert hides three legendary horses you actually want to ride. Each one has a clear specialty: Royler is the speed demon, Rokade is the beefy carry-your-soul-through-combat option, and Camora is the red combat mount that will smack enemies for you. They come with better base stats and stronger skills than normal horses, so chasing them down is worth the trouble.
Quick prep notes
You will need decent stamina to tame these beasts, especially Royler who lives in a cold area. Bring gear or consumables for temperature resistance when needed, and consider respeccing into stamina if your mount attempts keep failing. A little planning saves a lot of falling-off-and-start-over.
Royler location
What Royler offers: fastest movement, Level 4 speed (the others are Level 3). Gets Instant Acceleration at Level 3 and a unique Consecutive Instant Acceleration at Level 5.
Where to find Royler: a white horse roaming by the small pond in Snowgrass Hearth, just below the letter P in the Pailune region on the map. This is a snowy spot, so expect cold effects.
Taming tips: bring ice resistance and high stamina. I had to respec into stamina level 10 to make it manageable. On controller try holding back and centering the camera behind the horse rather than following the taming minigame instructions to the letter. That tends to be more reliable.
Rokade location
What Rokade offers: the tankiest mount. It has nearly twice the health of Royler, so it will survive more punishment in fights or awkward terrain accidents.
Where to find Rokade: a very black horse near the pool just west of the Spire of Insight in southern Hernand. The color makes it easy to spot.
Taming tips: climate here is mild, so stamina suffers less from environmental penalties and the taming is noticeably easier than Royler.
Camora location
What Camora offers: highest attack and defense among the three. Best choice if you want a horse that fights alongside you and deals real damage.
Where to find Camora: in Redtree Forest, in a cavern meadow full of flowers in the rainforest region south of the Crimson Desert. It sits southeast of Tommaso, east of the Sanctum of Renunciation, and west of the Red River.
Taming tips: the area can be tricky to get to unless you have the region map unlocked. If you do not yet have the map, ring the bell in Tommaso to progress the Toll of Pywel quest and reveal the area. When you find Camora, move it into an open space before starting the taming attempt so the camera does not get stuck on rocks or walls.
Which one should you pick?
- Choose Royler if you value speed and quick getaways.
- Choose Rokade if you need survivability and a reliable mount in fights.
- Choose Camora if you plan to use your horse as a combat partner.
All three are worth hunting depending on how you like to play. Prep your stamina, bring the right resistance, and go claim your favorite. Try not to feed them anything weird.
