Zendaya ends the theme with a final New York look
Zendaya has officially finished her run through the bridal-code dress tradition of “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” The Emmy winner and ongoing fashion event arrived at the New York premiere of The Drama at Regal Union Square on Thursday night wearing Schiaparelli, paired with Tiffany & Co. jewelry.
The film, from A24, stars Zendaya opposite Robert Pattinson as a happily engaged couple whose wedding plans unravel after the bride-to-be reveals something that sends the whole week into chaos. Naturally, that plot gave Zendaya and stylist Law Roach room to turn the press tour into a carefully staged series of fashion references, with each stop matching one part of the old wedding rhyme that is meant, according to Victorian-era tradition, to bring luck and keep bad spirits away. A nice little bonus for anyone with a global promotional schedule.
The full set of looks
Zendaya’s “something old” came first in Los Angeles, where she wore a Vivienne Westwood dress she had originally debuted at her first Academy Awards in 2015.
For the Paris premiere, she switched into “something new” with a custom Louis Vuitton gown featuring a cutout back and an oversized black bow that extended into a train.
Then came “something borrowed” at the Rome premiere, where she wore a loaned gown from Cate Blanchett’s closet. The dress had been custom-made by Giorgio Armani Privé. Blanchett had last worn it at the Venice Film Festival opening night ceremony in August 2025, which is the sort of detail only the fashion world can produce with a straight face. Blanchett had also worn the gown herself at the 2022 SAG Awards.
With the New York appearance, Zendaya completed the set, bringing the tour’s fashion concept to a neat close.
Roach says the method dressing fits the work
Roach recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the approach and why it works for projects such as Dune and Challengers. The point, as ever, is not simply to dress Zendaya well, which would be enough for most people. It is to build a visual language around the film itself.
That streak does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon. Zendaya has a very full 2026 ahead, beginning with the third season of Euphoria on April 12.
After that, she has about three months before Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey arrives in theaters on July 17. Two weeks later, Spider-Man 4, starring her husband Tom Holland, is scheduled to open on July 31. The next Dune installment is then set for Dec. 18.
Zendaya says she may disappear for a bit
Zendaya recently told Fandango that she hopes audiences “don’t get sick of me,” and joked that she may need to go into “hiding for just a little bit” once the run of projects starts landing.
“I really appreciate everyone who supports any of the movies or supports my career in any kind of way,” she said. “I’m deeply appreciative, and like I said, I just hope you guys don’t get sick of me this year, because, I’ll tell you what, I’m disappearing for a little bit. I’m going to have to go into hiding for just a little bit.”
For now, though, she is still very much here, and still making a wedding-themed press tour look expensive enough to require its own insurance policy.
The Drama opens in theaters Friday, April 3.
