Carlos Sainz says the FIA should not rely only on team feedback as it prepares to review the more controversial parts of the 2026 Formula 1 regulations ahead of Miami. The Williams driver argues that the sport’s closing speeds have become too extreme and that drivers need a real voice in the process.
Carlos Sainz squeezed a near-perfect lap out of the Williams, but the FW48 simply won’t give more right now. He finished 15th in the first session, 16th in Q2 and on the grid, frustrated by engine cut issues and a gap to the faster midfield cars.
After 12 years with Lucas Cruz, Carlos Sainz starts working with new co-driver Dani Oliveras at the Rally de Portugal. The W2RC round (March 17-22) will be a key test for the pair on mainly track-based, muddy terrain that crosses into Spain for three stages.
