Marathon’s Ranked mode is the competitive slice of this extraction shooter. Play to climb a rank ladder, grab exclusive cosmetics, and collect loot packages. If you like pressure, timed weekends, and carrying an expensive badge everywhere you go, this is for you.

Marathon Ranked format, explained

Eligibility

Ranked is a weekend-only mode. It starts Saturday and runs until the weekly reset on Tuesday. Each weekend focuses on a single planet-side zone, and the Cryo Archive is not part of the rotation. To join the party you need to be Runner level 25 or higher.

There are two separate Ranked queues with different matchmaking pools and gear entry costs:

  • Low Stakes - Bronze and above: 3,000 Credits required
  • High Stakes - Platinum and above: 10,000 Credits required

Scoring

Progression is based on Ranked Points, or RP. RP is awarded only if your team reaches a target score and successfully exfiltrates. Your starting loadout does not count toward the target score. If you leave without enough points, you earn no RP. If you fail to extract at all, you risk losing rank based on the Holotag value you were carrying.

Holotags

Holotags are mandatory passes for Ranked. You buy them in the Armory with Credits. Each rank has a matching Holotag tier, and you can only buy Holotags up to your current rank. Every player must carry a Holotag to contribute to the team score.

The Holotag you bring sets the baseline score target. You can also increase your score by stealing Holotags from other runners or collecting Tag Chips dropped by UESC enemies. Going above the target lets you overperform and earn more RP.

  • Bronze - Cost: 500 Credits. Score target: 3,000. Loss penalty: 600. Overperformance capacity: 600.
  • Silver - Cost: 750 Credits. Score target: 5,000. Loss penalty: 2,000. Overperformance capacity: 1,000.
  • Gold - Cost: 1,000 Credits. Score target: 7,000. Loss penalty: 4,200. Overperformance capacity: 1,500.
  • Platinum - Cost: 1,500 Credits. Score target: 10,000. Loss penalty: 8,000. Overperformance capacity: 2,250.
  • Diamond - Cost: 2,000 Credits. Score target: 15,000. Loss penalty: 15,000. Overperformance capacity: 3,250.
  • Pinnacle - Cost: 3,500 Credits. Score target: 20,000. Loss penalty: 20,000. Overperformance capacity: 5,000.

All Marathon ranks

The Ranked ladder runs from Bronze up to Pinnacle. Each rank contains three subdivisions, from III up to I. Everyone starts at Bronze III and works their way up during the season.

All Marathon Ranked rewards

Ranked rewards come from the Codex. You unlock one-time reward packages when you hit certain ranks during the season. Packages come in three rarities: Deluxe, Superior, and Prestige. Some cosmetics are granted immediately at rank milestones, while other items may be awarded at season end.

  • Silver: Player background
  • Gold: Destroyer Runner Shell skin and a title
  • Platinum: Stryder M1T weapon skin
  • Diamond: A weapon skin listed as redacted for now
  • Pinnacle: Repeater HPR weapon skin and a title
