Shyvana’s updated kit barely hit Summoner's Rift before Riot Games started dialing her back. The new version posted a 57% winrate on day one of Patch 26.6, and designers worried she would climb even higher as players optimized builds. So Riot shipped a micro hotfix to cool off the Dragonborn.
Why the quick patch?
LoL Lead Designer August Browning noted that Shyvana came out strong and would likely get stronger as players adjusted. To prevent runaway dominance, Riot applied a small, targeted nerf set.
What changed in the hotfix
The hotfix hits several parts of Shyvana's kit: her passive, her W when used after ulting, her E, and the R fear duration. Here are the exact adjustments that went out:
- Passive - Scalemail
- Armor per Stack: 0.4 -> 0.3
- MR per Stack: 0.4 -> 0.3
- On-Hit Cooldown Reduction: 1.25 -> 1
- Passive Max Health Damage: 1% + 1.7% per 100 bonus AD + 1.3% per 100 AP -> 1% + 1.1% per 100 bonus AD + 1.1% per 100 AP
- RW - Inferno Aegis (W after ulting)
- Heal: 100-250 + 10% bonus AD + 5% AP doubled based on missing health -> 75-200 + 10% bonus AD + 5% AP doubled based on missing health
- E - Molten Burst
- Damage: 80 + 40 per rank + 50% bonus AD + 70% AP -> 80 + 30 per rank + 35% bonus AD + 70% AP
- Slow Efficacy: 30% + 5% per rank -> 20% + 5% per rank
- R - Dragon's Descent
- Fear Duration: 1 -> 0.75 seconds
Quick read on the impact
The passive nerf reduces her stacking defenses and on-hit cooldown benefit. Her healing after ulting is weaker, her E deals less bonus AD and slows a bit less, and her ultimate’s fear is shorter. Overall this trims her early power spike and some of her skirmish endurance.
Was this overboard or necessary? Riot opted for a small, broad set of reductions rather than a single big change, aiming to keep Shyvana playable but less oppressive while players learn the new kit.
Expect more balance tweaks in the coming days as data and pro play settle in.
