Call of Duty's Warzone Season 3 is rolling out a handful of changes that should shake up where and how matches end. The big moves: Avalon joins the main battle royale rotation, Avalon gets its own Gulags later in the season, Verdansk gets a major new point of interest, and several limited-time modes and movement mechanics are coming or returning.
Avalon gets dedicated Gulags
Later in the season, Avalon will host three distinct Gulag arenas. The variants are named Server Room 04, Cryo Room 05, and Meeting Room 07. These are compact, octagon-shaped combat spaces built so players can learn their layouts like any other point of interest.
- Design notes: Each Gulag has a busy central area plus an upper floor with interrogation stations where waiting players can watch the fight.
- Tactical features: Expect automatic doors that can be used as moving cover and reinforced glass that lets you see the opponent without being able to damage them immediately.
- Movement changes: Wall Jumping will be disabled inside these Gulags.
Map rotation and Verdansk updates
Season 3 introduces a big map rotation to core battle royale. The playlist will cycle between Verdansk and Avalon as the season progresses. Verdansk will be the primary map at launch and will receive a large new point of interest called Launch Pad.
Launch Squad and other limited-time modes
A new limited-time mode called Launch Squad drops players into Verdansk with a simple objective: collect Launch Codes, then survive long enough to trigger a rocket launch. It sounds dramatic, because it is.
Other limited-time modes scheduled across the season include:
- Hot Pursuit
- Prop Hunt Royale
- Iron Gauntlet
Movement tools hit Warzone
Some movement mechanics from Black Ops 7 will be added to Warzone. Both Wall Jump and the Grappling Hook will appear in battle royale and Resurgence modes. Note that while Wall Jump returns to general play, it will not be allowed inside the new Avalon Gulags.
Season 3 looks built to mix familiar Warzone flow with smaller, learnable combat arenas and rotating map variety. Expect more limited-time events and tweaks as the season moves on.
