Blizzard just made World of Warcraft harder in ways players asked for and some did not. This week the team enabled higher difficulty tiers for raids and started Mythic+ keystones, pushing both raid teams and dungeon groups into tougher content.
Raids: Voidspire and Dreamrift hit Mythic
The Voidspire raid received a Mythic difficulty. Blizzard also unlocked the second wing of the raid finder for Voidspire and added a story mode for players who prefer plot over punishment. The Dreamrift raid also gained a Mythic option, so both major encounters now have the top-tier challenge available.
Mythic+ keystones begin dropping
Keystones for Mythic+ started dropping on March 24. They appeared in four dungeons from the current expansion plus four dungeons from past expansions. That means more choices for dungeon groups that like scaling difficulty and timer pressure.
There are season rewards tied to Mythic+ performance. Hitting certain ratings can earn:
- A carrion mount
- A gleaming armor effect
- An upgraded carrion mount
World-first race kicks off, with controversy
With these new difficulties live, Blizzard declared the official start of the race to world first. That race quickly ran into trouble when a guild exploited an issue to deal extreme amounts of damage. Blizzard investigated and disqualified the guild RAoV, also known as Random Acts of Violation QA Strikes Back, for using cheats to gain an unfair advantage.
What this means for players
Expect tighter strategies and more intense runs in both raids and Mythic+ dungeons. If you like clear goals and flashy rewards, the season has incentives worth chasing. If you care about fair competition, the disqualification shows Blizzard is monitoring exploits and willing to take action.
Whether you are gearing up to join a push for world first or planning handfuls of Mythic+ runs with friends, the content is now sharper and less forgiving. Good luck and keep the strategies clean.
