Marvel Rivals Season 7 drops a pair of new faces and a set of system and hero updates that will reshape matches for a while. White Fox and Black Cat arrive with distinct roles: White Fox joins as a Strategist who can function like a compact combat medic, while Black Cat is expected to be a diving Duelist.
System changes
The headline system change is a global slowdown to Ultimate charge gain. Ult energy gains are roughly 20% slower overall, but this is applied differently depending on how each role builds Ultimate charge.
- Vanguards and Duelists:
- Damage-to-energy conversion reduced from 90% to 70%.
- Passive Ultimate energy regeneration reduced from 12 per second to 11 per second.
- Strategists:
- Damage/healing-to-energy conversion reduced from 90% to 75%.
- Passive Ultimate energy regeneration reduced from 12 per second to 8 per second.
The devs say they will watch how this change affects gameplay and make further adjustments if needed.
Character balance
NetEase adjusted several characters to address overperformance from Season 6 and to smooth the new Ultimate charge curve. Below are the main changes by role.
Vanguard
Angela
Angela gets a mix of adjustments that shift some power around her kit and Ultimate.
- Seraphic Soar attack charge conversion to Spear of Ichors reduced from 45% to 35%.
- Bonus damage at full charge increased from 15 to 20.
- Shielded Stance damage-to-charge conversion increased from 25% to 35%.
- Assassin’s Charge cooldown increased from 3s to 6s. Maximum recharge time changed from 10s to 8s.
- Axes of Ichors Bonus Health to self increased from 40 to 50 and to allies from 20 to 25 after landing Divine Judgement.
- Heven’s Retribution (Ultimate) spear throw damage increased from 10 to 40. Spear health reduced from 800 to 650.
Captain America
Minor quality-of-life tune and reduced Ultimate support for allies.
- When Leading Dash is toggled, the last four ranged Sentinel Strike shield throws will no longer be interrupted by Leading Dash.
- Freedom Charge Ultimate ally energy effect reduced from 30% to 20%.
Deadpool (Vanguard)
Survivability and Ult frequency adjusted downward to match the new Ult economy.
- Damage reduction from Deadpool In Your Area - Vanguard (Upgraded) reduced from 40% to 30%.
- Ultimate cooldown increased from 45s to 60s.
Doctor Strange
- Shield of the Seraphim value reduced from 800 to 700.
Emma Frost
- Diamond Form damage reduction reduced from 25% to 20%.
- Psionic Seduction (Ultimate) damage falloff at 30m adjusted from 50% to 70%. During the ability, Emma gains 20% damage reduction.
Hulk
Hulk charges Ultimate faster and gets some changes to his burst ability.
- Indestructible Guard absorbed damage to ultimate charge conversion increased from 100% to 130%.
- Gamma Burst gains two charges, each with a 6s cooldown. Single hit damage reduced from 75 to 65. Cooldown after each use reduced from 6s to 2s.
Magneto
- Metal Bulwark cooldown increased from 12s to 15s. Iron Bulwark cooldown reduced from 12s to 10s.
- Meteor M (Ultimate) projectile speed increased from 30 m/s to 45 m/s.
Duelist
Several Duelists receive tweaks, from mobility changes to damage and lifesteal adjustments.
Black Panther
- Removed cooldown on the second jump of Subtle Step.
Blade
- Hunter’s Shotgun projectile speed increased from 150 m/s to 180 m/s.
- Ancestral Sword attack range increased from 4.5 m to 5 m.
- Bloodline Awakening new effect: excess lifesteal now converts to Bonus Health (max 75, conversion rate 50%). Lifesteal ratio increased from 65% to 70%.
- Thousand-Fold Slash (Ultimate) new effect: lifesteal now works without switching to Bloodline Awakening and converts to Bonus Health. Healing reduction to enemies increased from 20% to 40%.
Daredevil
- Devil’s Chain end damage reduced from 35 to 25.
- Devil’s Chain bonus max health reduced from 125 to 100.
- Sonic Pursuit damage reduction reduced from 20% to 10%.
Deadpool (Duelist)
- Base health increased from 250 to 275.
- Ultimate cooldown increased from 45s to 60s.
Elsa Bloodstone
- Instinct lost upon defeat changed from 1 stack to 2 stacks.
- Ruthless Pursuit and Helix Advance bonus health reduced from 40 to 30.
Hawkeye
- Base health reduced from 275 to 250.
Human Torch
- Instantly recover all Fire Cluster ammo energy after not using Blaze Cluster for 1 second.
Iron Man
- Armor Overdrive new effect: each KO while Armor Overdrive is active extends its duration by 2 seconds.
- Armor Overdrive startup reduced from 1.8s to 1.3s.
Magik
- Umbral Incursion hitbox radius increased from 0.45 m to 1 m in both normal and Darkchild forms.
- Normal form Magik Slash max charged damage ratio reduced from 2 to 1.8 (max damage 90 to 81).
- Darkchild (Ultimate) startup reduced from 1s to 0.8s.
Psylocke
- Psionic Crossbow cooldown reduction to other abilities on hit increased from 0.25s to 0.3s.
- Wing Shurikens damage on throw and return increased from 8 to 9.
Scarlet Witch
Damage balance updated for close and mid range. Chaos Control now does more up close and charges the mid-range burst more quickly.
- Chaos Control now has damage falloff starting at 10 m and dropping to 90% at max range. Base damage increased from 80/s to 85/s (76.5/s at 20 m).
- Chaos Control hits now add 0.15 charge to Chthonian Burst, up from 0.1.
Winter Soldier
- Roterstern Spell Field damage on hit reduced from 65 to 55.
Strategist
Strategists see targeted changes to healing, team buffs, and Ult timing.
Deadpool (Strategist)
- Ultimate cooldown increased from 45s to 60s.
Gambit
- Ragin’ Royal Flush Ultimate: ally ultimate charge acceleration reduced from 30% to 20%. Movement boost reduced from 50% to 40%. Single-target explosive damage ratio increased from 20% to 25%.
Invisible Woman
Sue heals less in combat but recovers better out of combat.
- Guardian Shield healing reduced from 25/s to 15/s.
- Healing over time during Covert Advance increased from 20/s to 30/s.
Luna Snow
- Idol Aura new effect: reduce Ice Arts cooldown by 2s whenever a hero with Idol Aura, self or ally, participates in a KO.
Team-Up abilities
Adjusted or removed
Duality Dance (Adam Warlock and Luna Snow) has been removed. Adam Warlock also loses the Team-Up Anchor 15% healing boost.
Jeff-nado (Storm and Jeff the Land Shark) was removed as well. Jeff will still have other interactions, but the Jeff-nado effect is gone.
New Team-Ups
Blessing of the Kumiho (White Fox and Luna Snow) - White Fox as the Team-Up Anchor grants a 10% increase in healing effects. Luna Snow gains a new Team-Up ability called Spirit Fox Accord.
Cosmic Cyclone (Storm and Adam Warlock) - Adam Warlock gains a new Team-Up ability called Heavenly Harmony when paired with Storm.
The patch contains a lot of small and large adjustments. Expect the meta to shift as players adapt to slower Ult gain and the new hero additions. The developers will be monitoring results and may tweak things further.
